Khao Takiab attractions
Khao Takiab Beaches
The beach behind the hill of Khao Takiab is a great place to spend late afternoon. Large expanses of open sand and shallow waters are ideal for kids and beach games.
There are also plenty of loungers and restaurants here too where you can relax in the sun.
Before the hill of Khao Takiab the beach isnt as nice however you will see some of the local fishing boats and can get access to the temple. There are a number of seafood restaurants here ranging from small Thai style places to large expensive resorts.
You can get great views from the top of the temple at Khao Takiab, on a clear day you can see as all the way down Hua Hin beach and as far as Cha-am (below). Take a boat trip from Khao Takiab to Koh Singto (Lion Island).
Khao Takiab temples
There are a number of temples in and around Khao Takiab, the most popular being Khao Takiab temple itself, commonly referred to as "Monkey Mountain". There are a number of macaques that have made the temple grounds their home and have got quite used to tourists. Be careful though as they will grab anything, especially handbags and cameras, and watch out with small children as these animals are still wild.
The stair climb (right) rewards you with a great view from the top, those looking for an easier option can drive up around the back. They have been building in the temple grounds at the top of the hill for a number of years now, it still doesnt seem to be complete but that does not detract from the great views and the beauty of the temple and statues themselves.
There are many more temples around Khao Takiab, we will be bringing you information and images on these shortly.
A short drive south from Khao Takiab are the delightful beaches of Khao Tao and Khao Kalok. Two hours south will bring you to the quiet coastal town of Bang Saphan and its offshore gem of Koh Talu.
